7 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Nov 9)
2. A Shell Of A Hudson Sets Up A Poker Showdown
With Cameron Grimes coming away with all of the dollar last week, you had to imagine it wasn't going to be too long before Duke Hudson made his presence known in the insanely over star's match-up last night. Sure enough, the brassed off Aussie stormed to the ramp mid-match, but refreshingly refrained from costing The Dogefather the contest.
Post-Cave-In-win, Grimes and Hudson would verbally duke it out in the ring. Only, instead of exuding his trademark charismatic charm and watchability on the mic, Hudson appeared to have lost his groove from the beginning. Whether due to being flustered by a "What?" chant spewing crowd or just not quite clicking with the intensity level required of a performer who felt they'd been duped by the ultimate hustler, Hudson flailed a little here.
Thankfully, Grimes was on hand to settle the ship with a rousing comeback, admitting that he's been called names before but still came out on top. Yet, that still couldn't mask the lacklustre response to a proposed "Poker Showdown" between the two next week. Now, yes, this will add more weight to an eventual Hudson/Grimes in-ring battle in the end, but if last night's live feedback was anything to go by, don't expect this unenviable segment to steal Tuesday night in seven days time.
