7 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE Raw (13 March - Review)
6. Going To Hell
Show-opening promo trains are almost automatically a “down” here, but when a wrestler calls someone else out, we’ll give it a pass.
Edge started off Raw and immediately called Finn Balor (and the rest of Judgment Day) out, leading to a back-and-forth to set up their WrestleMania match. The Rated-R Superstar noted that the past year of his comeback was “wasted” dealing with Judgment Day, and before that, he was forced to wrestle in front of a bunch of TV screens at the ThunderDome, so he’s running out of time.
That acknowledgement of the sun setting on his resurgent career gave some urgency to ending their feud, which then gave Edge’s challenge for Hell in a Cell at Mania more meaning and weight, not just a gimmick being thrown out there because Edge said Judgment Day had made his life “a living hell” 10 seconds earlier.
Storytelling ain’t hard, folks, if you try. Oh, and throw in Balor teasing that hell threw him out because they couldn’t handle his demons? Looks like we’ve got a reveal for next week in this feud.
