One of the more effective storytelling devices in sports (and sports entertainment) is an adversary that the protagonist just can’t beat. We see the narrative woven in sports all the time, and we’ve seen this play out in WWE more often recently.

We see Becky Lynch listing at Asuka because she hasn’t beaten her. And we’re seeing this happen pretty interestingly in the tag team division. The OC is the only team to defeat the Viking Raiders, beating them twice now.

And Monday, we saw the Street Profits defeat The OC for the third time (if you count Starrcade 2019). The duo joked that beating the Best Tag Team in the World made them the best team in the universe (or multiverse), but Montez Ford locked in that the Profits want tag team gold.

Now, the Street Profits already have lost to the Viking Raiders, so you can see a triangle forming here. It’s not quite 50/50 booking and it puts three teams on the level, with AOP lingering off to the side. It sets up a potentially good rivalry between multiple teams for the Raw tag titles, which would be a nice change of pace.
