7 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE Crown Jewel 2021

2. Doudrop The Geek

Glad to see Piper Niven, a legitimately good wrestler and imposing figure, get broken down to the point where she’s been given a goofy name, turned into a dancing fool, and now has jobbed to a jobber less than half her size.

Doudrop fell to Zelina Vega in the finals of the Queen’s Crown tournament, with Vega capitalizing on a mistake to nail a Code Red for the clean win. While this was a big accomplishment for Zelina and shouldn’t be shortchanged, it’s still noteworthy that she had lost seven of her eight televised matches since returning before the tournament began. That’s not an up-and-coming wrestler – that’s a jobber.

And for Doudrop, WWE gave her a silly name and makes her dance to ringside, then she plods and stumbles through a match like a typical WWE “giant” rather than letting her be the agile wrestler she really is.

It’ll be interesting to see how WWE plays up Queen Vega, but this tournament was snakebitten from the get-go, and this outcome was just the cherry on top.
