7 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE Roadblock

4. A Weird Dynamic

Chris Jericho€™s heel promo before his match was solid, as he successfully managed to turn a Canadian crowd against him by denouncing his association with the country and calling its residents slow.

But his Canada bashing put the match in a strange predicament, as his opponent was the Real American, Jack Swagger. So you have a Canadian heel who hates Canada and moved out of the country, and an America-loving babyface from Oklahoma. Who does the Toronto crowd cheer?

It produced some silence and apathy, with a €œCM Punk€ chant breaking out at one point, and certainly didn€™t have the energy you€™d expect for a Y2J match in Canada.

Perhaps if Jericho faced a Canadian babyface like Sami Zayn or someone such as Neville or Goldust, we would have seen a better reaction. Instead, it was just flat.
