7 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Jan 13)

5. ‘Fist Fight’

What an absolutely stupid stipulation/name for Monday’s main event.

The six-man match was billed as a “first-ever” for Raw, as they tried to make a big deal out of it. What we got was essentially a no-DQ/anything goes/street fight between the trios. Sure, punches were thrown, but kendo sticks were swung, clotheslines were dealt, sentons were administered, and chokeslams and powerbombs were dished out.

“Fist fight” strongly implied a boxing-style match or a bout with competitors mostly throwing hands. That’s not at all what we got. But because Big Show knocked out Seth Rollins to end the match last week, that’s the name we gave this match 60 seconds after that contest ended.

Just a poorly named match, and it shouldn’t get a pass. Even with Kevin Owens’ ridiculously cool run-up-the-curved-stage-and-dive.
