7 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Jan 25)

6. Not That There€™s Anything Wrong With That

Dear WWE writers, It€™s 2016, not 1996. Please keep that in mind when you€™re going to make veiled Seinfeld references and €œgay€ jokes. You also might want to keep in mind that you have your own B.A. STAR program that preaches tolerance and respect for everyone regardless of differences. Love, Scott WWE went for €œfunny€ with a backstage segment between R-Truth and Goldust where €˜Dust tried to recruit Truth to be his tag team partner. Truth mistook what he said and assumed he meant a different kind of partner. He told Goldust that he €œdon€™t swing that way€ and that there wasn€™t anything wrong with that, that whatever floats his boat or toots his horn is OK. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsAuwnss-E4 Look, was it silly? Was it mostly harmless? Yes and yes. But it€™s also stupid and extremely dated. Just because Goldust was a notable act from the 90s doesn€™t mean that we need to use 90s humor.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
