7 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Jan 25)
6. Not That Theres Anything Wrong With That
Dear WWE writers, Its 2016, not 1996. Please keep that in mind when youre going to make veiled Seinfeld references and gay jokes. You also might want to keep in mind that you have your own B.A. STAR program that preaches tolerance and respect for everyone regardless of differences. Love, Scott WWE went for funny with a backstage segment between R-Truth and Goldust where Dust tried to recruit Truth to be his tag team partner. Truth mistook what he said and assumed he meant a different kind of partner. He told Goldust that he dont swing that way and that there wasnt anything wrong with that, that whatever floats his boat or toots his horn is OK. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsAuwnss-E4 Look, was it silly? Was it mostly harmless? Yes and yes. But its also stupid and extremely dated. Just because Goldust was a notable act from the 90s doesnt mean that we need to use 90s humor.
Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fondly remembers watching WrestleMania III, IV, V and VI and Saturday Night's Main Event, came back to wrestling during the Attitude Era, and has been a consumer of sports entertainment since then. He's written for WhatCulture for more than a decade, establishing the Ups and Downs articles for WWE Raw and WWE PPVs/PLEs and composing pieces on a variety of topics.
