7 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 4)

3. Backstage Stooges

Man, you’ve almost got to feel bad for guys like EC3 and No Way Jose.

You’re a professional wrestler who shows up to work and you’re told that your role on Monday night’s show will be to stand around backstage at Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update hosts walk by. Jose and his conga line is already a lost cause, just around for “comic” relief. His last match on Raw came in December in a battle royal. He pretty much just takes up a spot.

But EC3 has to sting the most. His entire contribution Monday night was standing in front of a mirror spraying himself as Michael Che and Colin Jost walked by. That was it for the 1-Percenter. Since being called up, he’s had three televised matches: he’s split two matches with Dean Ambrose on Raw and lost to Apollo Crews(!) on Main Event last week.

Nice to see WWE didn’t just call people up to the main roster without a plan. EC3 is filling that role of “random weird wrestler backstage for people to react to strangely.” *Eyeroll*

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
