Just because a jobber gets plucked up by another roster doesn’t mean that he has to be treated like a total jobber immediately.

Undercard wrestler Curt Hawkins was one of the superstars who moved to Raw Monday night, but he wasn’t exacted feted upon his arrival. The former tag champ was greeted by Big Show, who walked down to the ring, climbed inside… and knocked out Hawkins as he went to hug Show. And then the giant left.

Look, Hawkins is a low-level competitor, a guy who’s there to make others look good. WWE needs guys like that. But making him immediately look like a putz to a guy who has wrestled seven televised matches this year is just a kick in the gut.

That’s not to say that Hawkins should’ve beaten Sami Zayn in his first match on Raw, but maybe not having him be the 2015 version of Heath Slater right out of the gate would have been a smart decision. He’s going to lose plenty, regardless.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
