7 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw Superstar Shakeup

5. …And The Rest…

TV history buffs are familiar with the Gilligan’s Island theme song from the first season, which differed from the one everyone knows. Instead of naming “the Professor and Mary Ann” at the end, the song simply said, “and the rest…” leaving two of the seven castaways as afterthoughts.

That is sort of what happened during Raw, as four wrestlers were named to the roster as part of the Superstar Shakeup, but were simply introduced via ultra-brief highlight packages: Apollo Crews, Kalisto and Heath Slater & Rhyno. Crews in particular is dismaying, as he floundered on the smaller roster of SmackDown and probably would benefit more from being sent down to NXT for seasoning than anything else.

Instead, he was sold as having immense “potential” and possessing “all the tools” to becoming a major star – the same bill of goods we were sold last summer when he debuted. And all of that is true – Crews is immensely talented and could be a future champion in WWE. But after failing to catch on at all on SmackDown, it’s hard to be anything but skeptical at this move.
