Astute fans have noticed that ever since the brand split, Sami Zayn – one of the more popular and talented wrestlers on either brand – has been noticeably directionless for much of the time.

Apparently, WWE noticed it and has even made a point of noting it on Raw. It’s a weird through-the-looking-glass moment, with the announcers saying that Sami knows he hasn’t had much direction recently, and that seeking out and challenging for the Intercontinental Championship will help find that direction.

And hey, this writer is all in favor of Zayn finding direction and going on a tear. Beating Bo Dallas in short order is a good step. But that doesn’t make it any less odd to openly admit that he’s been floating without a purpose for months.
