7 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Dec 21)

7. Cena Returning, But Not For Award

During Raw Monday night, it was announced that John Cena would finally return after an unexplained (on television) two-month absence, and he will face the man who beat him for the United States Championship, Alberto Del Rio. What wasn€™t announced was where Cena has been for the past two months, why he hasn€™t appeared on Raw, and why he couldn€™t even be there Monday night to claim his €œHero in All of Us€ Slammy. He didn€™t even send in a video thanking fans for voting or anything like that (which previous winners have done). It was disappointing for those in attendance (who booed when Mark Henry said he wasn€™t there). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZQYB_smVUQ One last, small note: The €œHero€ Slammy included descriptions of all the extracurricular activities that the nominees took part in (Susan G. Komen, Special Olympics, USO, etc.). Naturally, Cena was acknowledged for Make-A-Wish Foundation. He was also the only one of the five nominees mentioned for that. It€™s worth noting that in his huge interview last year with Colt Cabana, CM Punk noted that he and other superstars grant wishes all the time, but only Cena gets public credit (from WWE) for them. It€™s tough to determine if any of the other four nominees granted wishes in 2015, but if they did and didn€™t get credit, then that€™s really disappointing. Cena goes above and beyond with granting wishes, but that doesn€™t mean others can€™t receive recognition for their volunteerism.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
