7 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (June 17)

1. Rollins Establishes Dominance

When you talk about getting your top babyface over with fans, WWE doesn’t exactly have a great track record.

That’s why Monday night was a pleasant surprise at the outset. Elias started Raw by announcing he was the special referee for the Baron Corbin/Seth Rollins Universal Championship match. No sooner did he announce it then Rollins waffled him with a steel chair repeatedly, leaving him laying.

Rollins then grabbed the mic and warned that anyone who chose to stand with Corbin would meet the same fate. He would back it up minutes later by bashing Baron with a chair backstage once he declared he’d name another special ref later that night, which he did by taking out EC3 with a steel chair. And then he battered Eric Young for simply talking to Corbin.

The simple act of not taking any crap and going on the offensive – rather than talking incessantly – can make a huge difference in how Rollins is perceived. This is exactly what WWE should be doing to put its top champ on top.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
