Why yes, Vince McMahon does like big sweaty men, how did you know?

After an energetic opening that livens up the crowd, things slow down as Brock Lesnar, in his PPV debut, takes on Test. This is the most tepid reaction you will ever see for Brock, who at this point was still a relative unknown. It’s not helped by the fact that he’s squaring off against Test, who while by no means a bad wrestler, is just a complete non-entity by 2002.

However, his big boot finisher is massively over, and when he hits it, the crowd erupt for the finishing sequence. In addition, the match that precedes it is much better than you would expect. It’s kept short (around eight minutes), and keeps the focus squarely on Brock and Test hitting each other with power moves. If you’re looking for a decent big man match, there’s much worse you could watch.
