7 Ways To Make WWE Kings And Queens Matter Again

1. Title Shot To Cash In

WWE already has multiple ways for a superstar to gain a guaranteed title match via the Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank ladder match, so what’s one more?

Winning the King of the Ring or Queen’s Crown tournament could also come with a guaranteed title match of the winner’s choosing at a pre-determined PPV. This would allow the winner to get a win at one PPV and then a title shot at another, ensuring they get some added exposure. Or it could be a title match at the King or Queen’s discretion – just not as a surprise ala MITB.

But as the theme of this article has indicated, the goal is to make the King and Queen tournaments matter again. Knowing that the winner would get a title match – possibly with the royal declaring a stipulation for the match too – is a great way to put some stakes to it.

Maybe you even have a situation similar to Drew McIntyre who couldn’t challenge Bobby Lashley again… unless he were to win a tournament like this. That give some added depth to the tournament, even if Drew was knocked out of the tourney via shenanigans.

And if you’re going all-in ASAP on a winner, this could be a great tool to link the rise on the card with winning the tournament. If you’re booking with an ounce of foresight, this should be easy. Look no further than 2002, when Brock Lesnar won the KOTR tournament, which actually came with a title match, which he won.
