2. Total Divas
WWE.comLast year, WWE and the E! network teamed up to create a new reality television series that followed several WWE Divas around, giving a glimpse into their lives at home, on the road and behind the curtain at Raw.
Total Divas was a huge hit, and for wrestling fans, it provided a different perspective of our favorite shows and characters. We got to see Daniel Bryan, John Cena and Tyson Kidd interact with their girlfriends, who also happened to be divas. The cast of Total Divas were often pitted against WWE divas who werent on the show, making for some weird dynamics. Then WWE started booking angles and matches on Raw based on what happened on Total Divas. Perhaps the most mind-numbing angle was Natalya being upset that the Bellas didnt appreciate artwork she made for them, which led to a match on Raw with the rest of the Total Divas rating moves on a 1-10 scale. Keep in mind that theres a delay of multiple months between filming the episode and it airing, so that means theyre reacting to stuff in May that probably happened in February or March. But the other strange part of this meshing of reality and storyline is how selective it is. Daniel Bryan and Bries engagement and marriage are incorporated into major storylines, and Nattie and Tyson Kidds marriage has been acknowledged on air. But aside from an initial mention right after their wedding (complete with Total Divas footage!), nothings been said about Naomi and Jimmy Usos marriage. Probably the most glaring omission is John Cena and Nikki Bella. You would think your girlfriends sister quitting under pressure and now your girl being run through the wringer would prompt you to intercede, but not a peep from Cena. Does this relationship not exist within the confines of WWE? Or only if/when its convenient?
