7 Wrestlers Who Became Too Big For WWE

1. The Rock

In wrestling, there are stars and there are superstars, but nobody's like The Rock. He was the most famous man in wrestling in 2000, but a cameo as The Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns was his first step toward becoming a Hollywood sensation. The next year, The Scorpion King got a spinoff film, making The Rock the highest-paid first-time leading man in film history.

From there, The Rock was a part-time wrestler, part-time actor, but in 2004, he made the jump to acting full-time. He would eventually become one of the most famous celebrities in the world, helming billion-dollar franchises and being mentioned alongside the likes of Brad Pitt and Robert Downey, Jr.

The Rock was well and truly above WWE - but that didn't change the fact that he loved wrestling and the fans. In 2011, he returned to the company to host WrestleMania 27, leading to a pair of matches with John Cena at the subsequent two 'Manias. Not many Hollywood superstars would put their bodies on the line out of loyalty and honour but, again, nobody's quite like The Rock.
