Seeing as Ric Flair is the embodiment of 'world champion', it is only right that The Nature Boy holds this honour. Saying that 'The Nature Boy' was the first winner of these two titles is accurate whatever the weather, as Buddy Rogers was actually the first man to win both the WWE & NWA World Heavyweight Championships.

The WCW World Heavyweight Championship came into existence in January 1991, and it was Flair who became the inaugural champion when he defeated Sting at a house show in New Jersey. One year and eight days later Flair won another title for the first time - the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.

The WCW World Heavyweight Champions ceased to exist as of December 2001, when Chris Jericho unified it with the WWF Championship. By that point Hulk Hogan, Big Show, Kevin Nash, The Rock, Sid, Bret Hart, Randy Savage and Kurt Angle had all added their names to the list of men to win both.

Not many professional wrestlers get a chance to etch their names into the history books. The achievements of these wrestlers can't be taken away from them - you only get one chance to be the first.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
