7 WWE Stars One Tweak Away From PERFECTION

5. Rusev

The Tweak: More emphasis on his in-ring talent over character.

Why It'd Help: In fairness to WWE's creative department, it was tough to know what to do with Rusev before everyone stumbled upon his 'Rusev Day' marketability. They'd tried the unbeaten foreigner thing, experimented with a soap opera split from Lana and pressed the reset button post-Draft on Raw.

Nowadays, Rusev is more likely to smile at the audience than bark and remind them he plans to crush opponents, and he's a multi-dimensional character compared to the 'Super Athlete' of yesteryear. Why not mix elements of both and see what happens? This isn't a Dr. Pepper advert, so 'what's the worst that can happen?' need not apply.

Rusev requires a little less panto and a bit more (re)emphasis on his underrated skills as a pure wrestler. He can be likeable without playing the clown with a funny accent, and that should be abundantly clear to WWE by now. They have a potentially world class talent on their hands, if they let him be one.
