8 Best WWE Steel Cage Matches Since 2000

8. Eddie Guerrero vs. John Bradshaw Layfield - SmackDown; July 15, 2004

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPrCd9ImD4g John Bradshaw Layfield's WWE Championship was on the line as he and Eddie Guerrero continued their intensely personal rivalry as they clashed inside a steel cage on the July 15 episode of SmackDown. After bloodying each other in two previous pay-per-view bouts, it seemed only right that they would conclude their program in a match synonymous with the crimson mask. Guerrro unleashed every bit of rage, every ounce of anger in his body as he attempted to avenge the months of torment and torture he endured at the hands of the millionaire Texan and, at the same time, end his WWE Championship reign. Guerrero looked to be on his way to a second reign atop the WWE mountain when Kurt Angle, dressed in lucha gear, interfered, allowing JBL to pick up the win. It was a heartbreaking conclusion for Guerrero, who never really did get that revenge on JBL. Instead, he transitioned into a rivalry with Angle, who beat him at SummerSlam, further creating questions surrounding the booking of SmackDown's most popular star.
