8 Big Questions Behind WWE’s Attempts To Buy ROH
6. Which Wrestlers Would WWE Acquire?
If you’re a WWE fan, one bright spot of this deal is the opportunity to see ROH’s multi-talented roster competing on WWE shows. ROH have lost many exciting workers lately, but they still hold some of the best wrestlers in the business, and seeing the likes of Cole, the Bucks, Jay Lethal, and Marty Scurll tearing through NXT would be an incredible sight.
There’s no guarantee that all these wrestlers would even want to join WWE, however. The Young Bucks have turned McMahon down in the past, and may not wish to sacrifice the freedom offered by their current situation, or the revenue they make through independent merch sales. The same goes for Scurll and Will Ospreay, who are among the most in-demand wrestlers in the world.
On the other side, WWE likely wouldn’t be interested in a huge portion of the ROH roster anyway. Christopher Daniels is an independent legend, but he’s 46 years old, while company icon Jay Briscoe problematic social media comments have cost him a WWE deal in the past. The list goes on, and while a buyout might bring a significant talent influx, would the buyout result in more terminations than signings? It's entirely possible.
