8 Blade-Jobs That Would Cost Superstars Their Job In Today's WWE

8. Mick Foley vs Edge - Hardcore Match - WrestleMania 22

In 2004, Mick Foley started an in-ring resurgence with two fantastic matches at WrestleMania 20 and Backlash 2004. Fast forward two years when Edge was the biggest heel in the WWE and angry at the Hardcore Legend for a perceived action against him that resulted in the loss of his beloved WWE hampionship. Edge blamed Mick for his recent run of bad luck, and decided to lash out at him in order to draw him into a match for some retribution. He said he knew Mick was no legend, and certainly not hardcore. He was a muppet. A cuddly children's character. A man who could claim a few things for his career, but one thing he most certainly couldn't: he had no WrestleMania match or moment to call his own. With all this, Mick dared Edge to step into the ring with him at WrestleMania, and see if the Hardcore Legend truly was dead & buried. While Edge claimed Mick no longer had it, Foley knew that Cactus Jack was just waiting, just waiting for that first smell of blood in the water.
While the blade jobs don't bring out images of explicit gore, it's the utter brutality of this match that wouldn't stand today. We'd seen blood at WrestleMania before, but we'd never seen anything like this. Edge & Mick would later go on to claim they had the greatest hardcore match of all time. While that claim is in kayfabe, in reality, it's not that far fetched. An awesome bout that allowed Mick to show he could still go, and earn himself WrestleMana immortality. While Edge may have won in spectacular fashion, he also won the moment of the night when afterward, he truly looked like he was having an out of body experience. That shot above alone would probably cost at least 3 jobs in today's WWE

Caliber Winfield is more legend. Despite making up every rumor himself, they're all true. He's so manly he has to shave his eyeballs, and he was mistaken for The Rock as well as Ryan Gosling in the same day, both men said it was the greatest day of their life when they heard the news.
