8 Booking Steps For Goldberg's WWE Return

7. Send Him To SmackDown

The easiest way to split Goldberg and Lesnar up, of course, would be to position them on separate brands. As WWE still perceive Raw as “the A show,” there’s a strong chance they’ll want to throw Goldberg on the red brand. This wouldn’t just be a mistake, however, but a big missed opportunity.

Most of Raw’s major players are close to booked-up for the rest of the year. Braun Strowman, Seth Rollins, and Finn Bálor all look set to receive title programs, and Roman Reigns’ SummerSlam plans are soon to be revealed. Unless WWE plan on pitting Goldberg against a diminished star like Bray Wyatt or Dean Ambrose, there’s little for him to do on Monday night.

SmackDown, however, is full of fresh booking opportunities, and going blue should hopefully bring a spike in viewership. Goldberg was a certified ratings draw during his comeback run, and while many fans view SmackDown as WWE’s top weekly show, it still lags behind Raw in the ratings.

Goldberg’s presence should help rectify that, and while he isn’t going to solve the company’s viewership crisis on his own, he’d be a huge boon to SD’s fortunes.
