WWE's pay-per-views in February and March each year can be a bit formulaic. There are hints of that this year (the usual Chamber match and Fastlane's Fatal-5-Way are pinned down by throwing numbers at the wall in place of solid storytelling), and yet WWE are still taking steps to do something unfamiliar.

The seven-man format for this year's Elimination Chamber is at least something a little different. WWE can either have two men share one of the pods (Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins spring to mind first there) or start the match with a Triple Threat-style threesome. There are options. Imagine that.

No, inserting one more man than usual doesn't drastically alter the way the Chamber match works. Still, those bashing the match should also be mindful that the alternative was Finn Bálor missing out altogether.

It's hardly perfect, but it's experimental booking during a time of the year when WWE's creative team normally pick the easy road and just want to get to 'Mania.
