2. Fake Undertaker
After Yokozuna - with the help of Crush, The Great Kabuki, Genichiro Tenryu, Bam Bam Bigelow, Adam Bomb, Jeff Jarrett, The Headshrinkers and Diesel - beat The Undertaker in a truly rotten casket match at the 1994 Royal Rumble, the Dead Man took a break from WWF to spend time with his wife Sara, and allow a back injury to heal.
It was an unbelievably silly supernatural angle which culminated in The Undertaker literally levitating out of the casket and ascending to the beyond, wires and all. But it would get worse. Shortly after WrestleMania X, vignettes started airing showing wrestlers claiming to have seen The Undertaker. Ted DiBiase introduced The Undertaker - excuse me, I mean UnderFAKER - shortly after. This version of 'Taker was played by Brian Lee, a buddy and travelling partner of Mark Calloway. The real Undertaker returned at SummerSlam, defeating the fake Undertaker following three tombstone piledrivers. The returning 'Take rolled Lee into a casket and the gimmick was history.
It was just as well, really - Brian Lee was not a man who was capable of having a main event level feud. Hey, at least we got Leslie Nielsen (as Frank Drebin of Naked Gun fame) trying to solve the mystery of who the 'real' Undertaker was.
