8 Great Wrestling Matches (That Weren't Supposed To Happen)

In an alternative universe, 'Best in the World' Shane McMahon added to his burgeoning trophy cabinet at WrestleMania 35 by defeating eco-warrior Daniel Bryan for his hemp-hewned title, ensuring the latter portion of the 30 hour show transpired in complete ignominy. In this reality, it actually reached its apex with the WWE Championship contest, providing the most genuine feel-good moment since Bryan's own 'Mania triumph five years prior.

How did that happen? All thanks to the unfortunate Ali. The sudden 205 Live graduate was all set for the biggest opportunity of his career at Elimination Chamber this February, only to see a nasty eye injury rule him out. In his place stepped Kofi Kingston, whose late-game performance opposite Bryan was so full of fire that fans selected him as their chosen one.

For once, WWE quickly cottoned on, placing a series of artificial hurdles before the Jafaican before eventually pulling the trigger. Come the night in New Jersey, Kofi cashed in over a decade of service in an emotional coronation. It was entirely unimaginable just three months earlier.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
