8 Great Wrestling Matches (That Weren't Supposed To Happen)

3. Kenny Omega Vs. Pac (AEW All Out)

Stone Cold Triple H Survivor Series 2000
AEW

Pac's short history with AEW has been a series of false starts and rejigs, the most recent ending considerably more favourable that the first.

Originally scheduled for a bout opposite Hangman Page on the company's debut PPV Double or Nothing, the Geordie's involvement was dramatically cut in mysterious circumstances, as his ongoing involvement with AEW became increasingly murky. The rumours and tattletale circulating after the former Neville's nixing suggested that not only would we not see his highly anticipated contest with Page, but that his association with the new-fangled promotion could be up before it had even began.

The scenario repeated itself come Fyter Fest, when Pac was advertised for the show only to once again be pulled. The plot thickened.

Genuine creative differences or an elaborate ruse - we never did find out the reasons for all the mistarts. But when Pac finally stepped up to replace Jon Moxley at All Out, the latter sidelined with a serious staph infection, his assumed exile meant the buzz was palpable. We'd failed to get several matches we wanted; now we had something even better, and entirely unexpected. As it happened, it was the best of the night.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
