8 Great WWE Stars With Bad WrestleMania Resumes
2. Kane
Kane has competed at a very impressive fifteen WrestleManias. That's a lot of Kane to get through, so I'll try to keep this under 500 words...
The Big Red Machine's first 'Mania outing was against kayfabe brother at WrestleMania XIV, a man he would wrestle on the grandest stage once more six years later at XX in 2004. At WrestleMania XV, Kane brought the suck in a letdown of a match with Triple H, who wasn't quite the main event player he'd morph into just a few short months later.
'Mania 2000 saw Kane team with Rikishi (because why not?) to take on those dastardly DX dudes X-Pac and Road Dogg. It was what it was. WrestleMania X-Seven saw Kane compete in a fun and chaotic Hardcore Title triple threat match alongside Big Show and Raven. His match the year after with Kurt Angle should have been a lot better than it was. Perhaps much of the blame for that can be put on the nonexistent buildup.
Kane was relegated to Sunday Night Heat duty for 'Mania XIX and had the aforementioned match with 'Taker at XX. The following year, Kane was a babyface again (despite the whole 'raping Lita' storyline) and vying for a guaranteed WWE Title shot in the first ever Money in the Bank ladder match. WrestleMania 22 wasn't so historic for the Devil's Favourite Demon as he and Big Show made quick work of the 'Oh yeah, I forget they teamed together' duo of Chris Masters and Carlito.
WrestleMania 23 was one to forget for Kane, as he was on Great Khali duty that night. Hilariously, his bodyslam on the Punjabi giant was WWE's tribute to Hulk Hogan doing the same to Andre 19 years prior. Not quite the same thing, lads. He made short work of Chavo Guerrero at 'Mania XXIV and his next several WrestleMania appearances were all in multi-man environments.
WrestleMania's XXV and XXVI saw Kane make up the numbers in the MITB matches, 'Mania XXVII saw our favourite pyromaniac team with some other guys WWE had no idea what to do with to fight the might CORRE stable (lol). At WrestleMania XXVII, a newly-pushed Kane beat Randy Orton in one of the most boring Randy Orton matches ever, which is really saying something. 'Mania 29's Team Hell No versus Dolph Ziggler and Big E match was marginally more exciting, for obvious reasons.
Kane and the New Age Outlaw's sub-two minute loss to The Shield at XXX was the veteran's last 'Mania appearance to date.
