8 Hidden Meanings Behind WWE WrestleMania 40 Attires
Superheroes, nostalgic vibes and even potential nods to AEW beef at WWE's WrestleMania!
There weren't as many glitzy, creative outfits at WrestleMania 40 as expected.
In fact, workers like The Usos, Sami Zayn, GUNTHER, Roman Reigns, LA Knight, AJ Styles and even The Rock didn't come pre-armed with anything other than their usual entrance routines/looks. Of course, they all had banging gear, but none of those names fit an article like this one.
To qualify, wrestlers had to sport some sort of hidden meaning at 'Mania. For example, one star's outfit had a personal touch that even paid tribute to her father. Another harked back to his old TNA gimmick, and there was even room for a possible nod towards one of AEW's most controversial early moments.
Some creative license has been taken here, because well...this is a subjective topic until somebody actually sits down to ask each roster member what was going on. It's a lot of fun to deep dive on their attire choices for the biggest weekend of 2024 though.
Cheap pops, personal stories, nods to pop culture and that aforementioned squashing of beef with Triple H await. There's a new 'King Of Kings' in town, put it that way.
Let's get stuck in!
8. New Day (Rocky & Apollo Creed)
Stop us if you've seen this one before.
New Day duo Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods marched to the ring for their ladder match as Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed respectively. That nod to one of Philadelphia's favourite fictional sons, his on/off friend/opponent and an iconic movie franchise was lovely, but there was something deeper afoot for Woods.
He was pretty much dressed as ex-TNA X-Division star Consequences Creed. That's when Xavier started rocking the Creed style, so this was a cracking full circle moment for him at 'Mania. Some folks on social media appear to have missed Kofi's cosplay tribute to Rocky though, which is interesting.
He was definitely rocking that famous yellow Rocky robe, but stopped short of hitting some jabs or uppercuts during the multi-team ladder melee on the night.
