Following the destructive 'Superstar Shake-up' back in April, SmackDown Live! appeared to have maintained a safe course with their women's division with the engaging 'Welcoming Committee' storyline adding some much-needed spark to Becky Lynch's dimmed 'fire', as well as cementing Charlotte Flair's inevitable babyface turn.

The hot streak held up, with two pleasing Money In The Bank matches that eventually afforded Carmella the guaranteed shot, but the league has since freewheeled without a single cogent storyline. This Battleground multi-woman Number One Contender's clash has froze current champion Naomi off the card completely.

A hint of intrigue emerged after the clunky redebut of Lana as an inexperienced and under-prepared addition to the fold. Eating defeat against Naoimi three times in quick succession, she then struck up a mysterious relationship with Tamina, who has taken on a new role as her belligerent enforcer.

After a gem of a singles battle between Flair and Lynch, all five got into a scrap won by the new pairing, so it's likely here that the match will gift Lana one final undeserved shot at Naomi's prize. Tamina hasn't indicated if she wants to win the match or hand it to the 'Ravishing Russian', but if their relationship is to flourish, it is too early to explore those potential cracks.
