8 HUGE WWE Night Of Champions 2023 Predictions You Need To Know

7. Becky Lynch Vs. Trish Stratus

Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch is, on paper, a dream match.

The woman for years canonically considered the greatest to ever do it in company history versus the woman credited with taking a half-in/half-out “Women’s Revolution” and dragging it kicking and screaming into the main event of WrestleMania at the show’s 35th attempt. They are big deals and they always will be, but where exactly does the fault lie in a programme that’s felt anything but?

In the face of so many possibilities, WWE seems to have been content to let legacies do the talking rather than two typically excellent promos. That’s not to say both Stratus and Lynch haven’t had promo time, but more that neither has been given material that’s particularly given the programme any bite or emotional heft.

The best details were almost hidden within Wikipedia recitals and uninspired platitudes. It was revealed that Stratus’ child looked up to Lynch and left to be implied that the six-time former Women’s Champion was none-too-happy about that. Then, in a go-home angle that was their best to date, Stratus used the contract signing staging to remind ‘The Man’ that such things weren’t even given to women when she was last around. As if her time to reclaim what she’d always deserved was now, and beating Becky was the way to do it.

Night Of Champions could be one of the more challenging environments to let these beats breathe over the course of the battle, but a Trish Stratus win only occurs if the company sees a rematch in this one. Both women entering next month’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match might be the only justifiable way to make that so.

Winner - Becky Lynch
