NXT's love of ladder matches is beyond parody.

It was pretty f*cking daft when the show had two in two weeks to decide the order of WarGames entry in 2019. It had long gotten silly before they put 68 people in one for the North American Championship last summer. Only a cute callback to a Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon angle stopped it descending into parody at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver when disputed Cruiserweight Championships were on the line.

Few - if any - of the above needed ladders. This needs it even less.

A bit of light comedic relief from two performers adept in the skill set may now be agented with the direction of trying to make it a classic. Grimes and Knight simply won't and shouldn't have that sort of match, though the former's babyface leanings on the go home show indicated that he probably won't be leaving with the thing he thinks he currently needs. Triple H's kind words about Ted Dibiase's backstage influence (and the internal adoration of the belt) suggests it'll be sticking around anyway.

Winner - LA Knight
