5. The Top Ten Ranking System

In the dire era of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, Impact officials were adamant to find a way of introducing fresh faces to the World Championship picture. Thus, they presented their own top ten ranking system, which was based around win/loss records, fan voting, and a Championship Committee.

While they didn't keep track of every single win and loss, like how All Elite Wrestling handles their ranking system, it still allowed fans to see who was in line for an upcoming World Championship match.

Of course, the system didn't always reflect what Impact had in mind, resulting in Desmond Wolfe - one of the many talents failed by Impact - losing his title match to Rob Van Dam in a matter of minutes. If Impact didn't want to make him champion, like what their audience were hoping, they at least still could have given him a decent title bout.

Sadly, this was too much for Impact to handle, and that was the end of their ranking system.

It was fun while it lasted, and gave every match involving the top ten contenders even more purpose, but it felt like a rushed job on behalf of the company. Thankfully, AEW took on a ranking system, and made it their own. If only it had happened back in 2010...
