8 Last Minute WWE Draft Rumors You Need To Know

1. Corey Graves Headed To SmackDown?

While never the most exciting wrestler on the NXT roster, Corey Graves was always a great talker. A bad concussion history forced him into an early retirement in 2014, and for all intents and purposes, it looked like his WWE was over.

Fortunately that wasn’t the case. WWE recognised Graves’ talents on the mic and slotted him in as NXT’s resident colour commentator, and it’s been an effortless transition. Leaving play-by-play to his broadcast partner, Tom Phillips, Graves is funny, engaging, and intelligent in the booth. His quips have drawn comparisons with prime Jerry Lawler and the legendary Bobby Heenan, and his name’s always one of the first to be mentioned when the question of WWE’s best commentator comes-up.

If recent reports are to be believed, Graves is on his way to SmackDown tonight. Regardless of whether his promotion is announced through the draft or later on, several parties within WWE have allegedly been pushing for Graves to get a main roster shot for quite some time now, and it’s never looked likelier than it does today.

Corey Graves would be a welcome relief. While Mauro Ranallo has performed well on SmackDown, WWE’s bland commentary style has been a huge source of criticism in recent years. With Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, and JBL struggling to entertain the masses, WWE badly need a shake-up in the commentary department, and Graves is the perfect guy for the job.
