8 Legendary Tales Of Badassery From Steve Austin And Ric Flair

4. Blackjack Strikes Again

While on the subject on Paul Orndorff, Flair tells a story about a night when the Mid-Atlantic territory guys were working in Norfolk, Virginia. He was teaming with Greg Valentine against Orndorff and Jimmy Snuka and mentions how he hated taking Snuka's splash off the top rope because of how stiff it was. There was a match taking place in the ring featuring the tag team Blackjack Mulligan and his son, Barry Windham, who was very new to the business at the time. The father/son combo was taking on the Minnesota Wrecking Crew, Gene Anderson and his ornery "relative" Ole. Ric says that Barry got in the ring and everything looked great, but apparently something happened that Mulligan didn't like because he jumped in the ring, slapped both Gene and Ole, then grabbed Barry and the two men left the ring together. When the Andersons arrived backstage Mulligan beckoned them to join him for a "chat" but the two decided to bail instead.
