8 Lessons WWE Should Learn From Daniel Bryan's Latest Injury
8. Bryan Is Not A Reliable Main Event Performer
Through no fault of his own, mind you. The fact of the matter is that, after spending the last 15 years of his life devoted to the pro wrestling industry, Daniel Bryan's body has been destroyed to the point that he cannot maintain a full-time schedule without getting hurt. We saw it in 2014, when his neck injury derailed his WWE World Heavyweight Championship run and we saw it again this year, with his IC title reign now in jeopardy following another undisclosed injury. While injuries happen, and should never be blamed on the performer unless the result of something incredibly stupid, it is not responsible for WWE's writing staff or management to continue putting Bryan in positions where they will have to scramble to come up with "Option B" if, and when, he is injured. For so long, Bryan threw his body around the ring with reckless abandon in an attempt to not only prove that he was the best wrestler on the planet but, also, to prove to the big wigs in WWE that he was deserving of a shot at main event stardom, Unfortunately, it was the determination to be the top star in the industry that has led him to the position he currently finds himself in. When he does return, expect to see WWE Creative very carefully pick and choose where they use Bryan, what situations they book him in and whether or not he remains such a vital part of the WWE puzzle. Prior to this most recent injury, the entire SmackDown show was booked around him and the intercontinental title, in hopes of both setting the program apart from Monday Night Raw and proving a place that the IC title could be the top prize. Bryan's injury has forced them to completely reconsider that, hence the main event featuring Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins that the show produced most recently.
