Beth Phoenix is one of the numerous women of wrestling that Punk has been romantically linked to through the years. He's infamous for dating wrestling women in his early Ring Of Honor and TNA days, all the way to his current relationship with AJ Lee. In early 2012, during a radio interview, Punk mentioned a relationship that he just got out of, and then went on a mini-rant about seeing "people you love and admire become complete douchebags" and about people who "flake". He never did mention her name, in-ring or real, during the interview, but it was the part about just getting out of a relationship that made everyone put the pieces together. Punk and Phoenix had just gotten out of their relationship, and Punk, notoriously private, didn't say anything when it was over, up until that interview. Reports say that the tension between them happened at some point in the fall months of 2011. It was at that time when Phoenix would go on to unfollow Punk on Twitter, but people also noticed that she unfollowed Amy "Lita" Dumas on the social media site, as well. Punk made a guest appearance on Lita's radio show, followed by Lita making a backstage appearance at the following night's WWE event, and people began speculating about those two being linked. Soon enough, Punk and Lita were basically public with their relationship. Like The Miz, Phoenix pretty much handled the situation very well. Outside of the Twitter unfollows, and the occasional slightly frosty tweet response to people who asked her about Punk, she never really shared her side of anything, or bothered to publicly slander Punk or Lita.
