8 MMA Fighters Who Failed In Pro Wrestling

In his MMA career, Frank Trigg is remembered fondly by fans as a heavy handed wrestler who came up short in a pair of classic bouts with Matt Hughes with the UFC Welterweight Championship on the line. Trigg faced some of the best fighters the sport had to offer during his fourteen years as a professional before hanging up his gloves in 2011.

Trigg's career in the squared circle was decidedly less remarkable.

Brought into TNA in 2008 by Vince Russo, presumably with the theory that the former UFC stalwart's shoot fighting experience would lend credibility to his matches, Trigg was immediately aligned with Kurt Angle and inserted into his feud with AJ Styles.

At No Surrender in the same year, Trigg faced off against AJ in an "MMA" style match that has since been derided as one of the worst of the Phenomenal One's illustrious career. To be fair to Trigg, he was completely candid about the struggles in the ring, later recounting in an interview with Bleacher Report:

"I sucked. I was no good. I couldn’t work with someone else. I’m used to working against someone else.”

You can't fault the guy for his honesty.
