8 Most Brutal Hardcore Moments Of WWE's PG Era
3. Cena Visits The Octagon
After leaving WWE in 2004, Brock Lesnar tried his hand at a bunch of other sports. Following an unsuccessful stint in the NFL, he signed up with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where things went significantly better.
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion returned to WWE in 2012. He clearly wasn't ready to give up MMA entirely, however, as his first match back made very clear.
His main event clash against John Cena at Extreme Rules was every bit as violent as the pay-per-view name would suggest. Within the opening few minutes, Lesnar busted his opponent open with a ground and pound attack, causing the match to be paused while officials cleaned Cena up. The scariest moment in this hellish scrap came when Lesnar charged up a set of steps in the ring and launched himself into Cena, who was standing on the apron. How neither man was injured during this spot in a minor miracle.
The match ended after Cena struck his foe with a chain and then hit an AA on the ring steps. Lesnar absolutely should have won this one, but that doesn't make the action any less impressive.
