While the two had clashed many times over the years, this match carried a more personal rivalry. Orton had previously been awarded/won the WWE Championship, in an attempt to rebuild him as a main event talent. With John Cena injured, the landscape was ripe for Randy Orton to become €œThe One Man Dynasty€ he claimed to be. Previously, Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton squared off at Cyber Sunday. As Shawn Michaels looked to score with Sweet Chin Music, Randy Orton punched Shawn in the groin to get himself disqualified, and retain his championship through very shady means. In the lead up to this rematch, Sweet Chin Music was banned after HBK super kicked Orton over 5 times. Orton could also lose the title if he was disqualified.
