Parallels between New Japan and WWE barely exist - the former is a superb pro wrestling promotion, the latter a wildly inconsistent sports entertainment empire - but this balls-to-the-wall, action-only spot-fest mirrored SmackDown’s doubles vision of 2018, in that it delivered much breathless entertainment without leaving any lasting impression. Beyond, of course, the welts left on Shingo Takagi’s opponents.
And, much like the blue brand’s tag team output, it hardly mattered that a switch occurred, for in this division, they always do.
