Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode were set to team through the Dusty Classic, but things fell apart in the very first round. Roode abandoned their match with SAnitY, and left Dillinger to be destroyed by the debuting group. The Perfect 10’s initial wariness towards Roode proved justified, and they’ve been taking shots at each other ever since.

Dillinger vs. Roode probably won’t be the flashiest match on the card, but the crowd reactions may well blow the roof off. Dillinger has been one of NXT’s most beloved characters for months, and while the “Glorious” hype has worn-off lately, Roode’s charisma ensures he retains a massive following. Whatever happens, this match’s entrances and early antics are going to be a lot of fun.

As for the outcome? It’s hard to look beyond Bobby Roode. In the absence of other top-level challengers, the former TNA Champion will likely be set up as Shinsuke Nakamura’s next opponent, and he’s perfectly suited to inheriting Samoa Joe’s role as NXT’s alpha heel. Dillinger, meanwhile, looks set to become NXT’s answer to Christian: a beloved, charismatic midcarder who flirts with the main event scene, but never quite breaks into the upper echelon.
