8 Predictions For WWE Money In The Bank After Elimination Chamber
Please, no more Dusty Finishes...
WWE just had a very uneven, uneasy night. Elimination Chamber certainly delivered on its promise of chaos and disarray, but not always the kind that audiences pay to see. Several of the bouts, such as the Divas bout and the IC Chamber match were plagued with botches and missteps, forcing a lot of awkward improvisation. The match of the night, by a wide gulf, was Cena vs Owens. A picky fan could argue that there were too many false finishes, huge power moves creating so many close two-counts that the audience were in danger of becoming numb to them, but the freshness of the pairing, and Owens' shock win, created a truly special climax to an intense, exciting bout. The WWE World Heavyweight Championship match was overbooked, with a wretched finish involving the referee reversing a seemingly clean win (often called a Dusty Finish because of Dusty Rhodes overuse of them in his WCW booking days). The brief burst of crowd euphoria faded away to chants of "bulls**", and did Ambrose really need to steal his second belt in 4 months? Despite complaints, Rollins and the Lunatic Fringe have amazing chemistry, and the action built to genuinely engaging and exciting conclusion. Fans should be happy to see their feud continue. The tag team chamber match was the cluttered spotfest that everyone assumed it would be, but it had a plethora of entertaining moments, like the Lucha Dragons high-flying antics, Tyson Kidd and Cesaro's increasingly seamless tandem offence, or the New Day's entertaining cheating. With Money In The Bank just two weeks away, how best for the WWE to capitalise on the night's successes, and make up for the night's shortcomings?
