7. Trent Seven Spoils Wolfgang's Party
Trent Seven opened the WWE UK Championship Tournament with a crowd-pleasing win over HC Dyer last night, while ICW Champion Wolfgang overcame the tenacious Tyson T-Bone. Both men did enough to leave a big impression on the crowd, and after putting T-Bone away with a huge Swanton Bomb, Wolfgang promised “we’ll be having a party when Wolfie wins.”
The tournament’s lone Scotsman has a tough task ahead of him, however. Seven has been front and centre of WWE’s marketing campaign this week, and he’s already one of the most popular wrestlers in the country. The Moustache Mountain man’s charisma, strong style wrestling approach, and exquisite facial hair have made him a star in Britain, and through his work in PROGRESS, Fight Club Pro, and others, Seven is among the country’s most respected wrestlers.
With all this in mind, Wolfgang’s tournament almost certainly ends in round two. His match with T-Bone was an unexpected highlight last night, but Seven’s clearly a guy WWE have big plans for, and it’d be a shame to burn a huge fan favourite this early. Expect this to be an exciting, hard-hitting contest between two of the tournament’s biggest men, but for Seven to ultimately advance.
