8 Problems WWE Solved In The Superstar Shake-Up

7. Kalisto's Purgatory

Pushing Kalisto probably isn’t high on WWE’s list of priorities at the moment.

The former Lucha Dragon has been a whipping boy since joining SmackDown last July. He was positioned purely as fodder and lost feuds with Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin. He was an odd fit from the start, but now that he has been moved to Raw, Kalisto can finally assume his natural position in the Cruiserweight division, and start "making a good Lucha thing" on 205 Live.

WWE had the opportunity to make this move when Kalisto faced Brian Kendrick for the Cruiserweight Championship at Survivor Series, but chose not to. Now, five months later, Kalisto is finally being moved to a role that he can actually succeed in, and he’ll bring genuine excitement to the much improved division.

Neville’s success shows that 205 Live can absolutely be used as a platform to revive struggling careers, and Kalisto should look to follow the Geordie’s blueprint. He’s a tremendous wrestler who has been under-utilised for too long, and while sending him to Monday nights won’t cause a huge ripple in Raw’s ocean, it’s a smart, logical decision that benefits both the wrestler and 205.
