8 Radical Ideas To Save CM Punk
3. Lights! Camera! Action! Part 2
Television may be a great fit… but on the other hand, there’s precedent for pro wrestlers making a transition into feature films, and he’s already got agents in Hollywood who may have their ears to the ground. After all, that’s how he heard about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel (he narrowly lost out on being cast as villainous henchman Rocksteady, and was reportedly at one time considered for the role of Casey Jones).
He’s also got contacts in film that could give him the leg up. I’ve already namechecked Batista, who’s actually a good friend of his but, of course, the man Punk was booked to lose the WWE Championship to in January 2013 is currently the biggest movie star in the world today. Dwayne Johnson and Phil Brooks may not be best buddies, but there’s certainly no heat between them, at least not anymore.
It’s likely that Punk would be one of those pro wrestlers that’s able to make a seamless transition to acting. His best work in the WWE was character-based storytelling, after all.
Again, Marvel characters are good roles to aim for as a talented and well-known newcomer to the big screen. If Bullseye is a perfect fit for Punk on the small screen, then I can’t imagine anyone I’m more interested in playing the Inhuman Karnak, whenever Marvel decide to add the Inhumans movie back into their schedules. He even looks a little like him.
Nicknamed ‘The Shatterer’, Karnak is a driven, obsessive character who is able to find the flaw in anything: people, objects, buildings, plans, you name it, and then strike at the perfect point to destroy that thing. He uses this gift as one of the Marvel Universe’s deadliest combatants, and to provide a unique and terrifying perspective as the Inhuman royal family’s chief advisor. You don’t want to get into an argument, a negotiation or a fight with Karnak. You’ll lose.
Quite apart from the fact that, again, this is a personality that Punk was born to play, there’s a delicious irony involved in awarding the role of a superhumanly lethal martial artist to an MMA fighter that people have spent two years belittling for his lack of skills and experience.
