8 Reasons Rick Rude Deserves WWE Hall Of Fame 2017 Induction
1. He Was The Greatest Heel Of All Time
In wrestling, there are good guys and there are bad guys. One group can't survive without the other, and in order for the formula to work to its full potential, both sides have to pull their weight.
Luckily, then, for any good guys who worked with Rick Rude, that they were across the ring from the ultimate master of the art. In the entire history of pro wrestling, there have been some truly incredible heels - men like Gorgeous George, who established a paradigm, men like Ric Flair, who drew money hand over fist, and men like Chris Jericho, who continuously reinvented themselves and found new ways to get heat. Of all the stars who tried it, though, none succeeded at being a heel to the extent that Rick Rude did.
Vicious and violent but self-obsessed and haughty, Rude managed to combine so many negative qualities into one easy-to-hate (and easy-to-envy) package. It's little wonder that, at the time of his death, "The Ravishing One" was training for a WWE comeback where he'd play a foil to Steve Austin. No matter the era, Rude would be second to none.
