8 Reasons Why Kevin Owens Is A Terrible Heel

8. He’s Too Funny In The Ring

Kevin Owens is an indy favorite, and he definitely knows he has the support of hardcore fans. Again, he’s very talented, but it’s hard to get wrapped up in his matches and jeer him when he slaps someone in a headlock and yells “I’m the master of the headlock!” What is there to hate about that? It’s great, and it's funny, which is exactly the problem.

Among some of his other jabs while he’s supposed to be pretending to fight in hand-to-hand combat:

To Jey Uso while having him in a headlock, “I actually really like you. Especially on Total Divas.”

While trying to drag Rusev on the mat, “God. Lose some weight!”

It's hard not to crack up at that, as it's all good stuff, but not really fitting for one of the top heels in the company. It's mid-card at best. It’s like watching the villain from a kids movie instead of one from a great action flick. Owens doesn't seem to be interested in getting heat from the crowd, as he’s too busy thinking up clever one-liners, and finding just the right time to deliver them.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
