8. MMA Guys Who Tried Pro Wrestling Admitted That Wrestling Was Harder!
Don't just take it from me, folks. Take it from the small handful of athletes who have had the opportunity (and the courage) to step into both Mixed Martial Arts and Pro-wrestling worlds. From former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion, Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal (who joined TNA in 2012), to MMA Legends Dan "The Beast" Severn and Ken Shamrock (both mainstays during the WWE Attitude Era), several fighters have gone on record to share their experiences inside the ropes: King Mo: "Pro Wrestling is harder than MMA. In Pro Wrestling Ive seen guys tear their ACL and continue to wrestle solely to please the crowd. You know regardless of what happens, the show must go on." Ken Shamrock: There's no question in my mind that my stint in the World Wrestling Federation was a lot tougher on me than my stint in MMA. I really believed with my experience that it was a lot tougher on me having to get up day to day and go out there and take 10, 15, 20 bumps for 7, 8 or 10 days in a row. It was tough." Dan Severn: Professional wrestling is much more difficult, Ive been hurt far worse in the professional wrestling industry than I have been in all of my cage matches. Rampage Jackson: "People don't understand how tough it is. It hurts. It hurts hitting the ropes. Getting slammed, all that stuff hurts. I really respect those guys. A lot of people hate on pro wrestling. They say that's fake.' It's not really fake. It's entertainment. It's not really fake, but if they want to hate on pro wrestlers and call it fake then they shouldn't watch any action movies at all. Action movies are the fakest things." Sure, the action in a wrestling ring maybe choreographed with pre-determined endings. But take it from the men who've been in there and have bumped, slammed, spiked, thrown and bounced off the ropes - the pain of pro-wrestling is much more real than the guy in the TapOut shirt would ever admit.
