8 Reasons Why MMA Fans Shouldn't Make Fun Of Wrestling

2. WWE Talent Have Been Successful In MMA, And Many Others Could've Been

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnieLt9eDfA For an industry that's often dismissed as "fake" and "scripted", there can be no denying that many credible, legitimate athletes who have passed through the professional wrestling doors could've achieved great success in MMA. From collegiate wrestling champions like Shelton Benjamin and Jack Swagger to feared tough men like Terry Funk and Haku, we can only hypothesize on what those guys could've accomplished if they had chosen to step into the cage. Going further back, it's hard to argue that wrestling legends like Stu Hart and Danny Hodge would've achieved great success in the Octagon. For years, Kurt Angle was touted as a potential crossover success, as the former Olympic athlete looked to transition from WWE to MMA. Unfortunately, by the time a viable business opportunity presented itself, the years of wear and tear on Angle's body meant that the ship had sailed. But it's not all hypothetical "What If's". There are a handful of WWE Superstars who DID step into the "real" world of MMA and fared respectably. Alberto Del Rio (9-5), Bobby Lashley (7-2) Sean O Haire (4-2) all have decent win-loss records. And while Batista's lone MMA fight was somewhat of a trainwreck, a win is still a win. But when you talk about successful WWE-MMA crossovers, one name immediately springs to mind.
